It took me sometime to finish my account of the short vacation we’ve just had. It’s not actually the writing that’s delaying my post but my slow digiscrapping skill. I am enjoying this new hobby of mine althought it requires much time and effort to create one. I will write more on digiscrapping in my future posts. For now, I want to tell about our visit to this solemn castle in Kalmar, Sweden. Hubby and me had a leisurely walk inside and outside Kalmar Slott (Kalmar Castle). It was a fine sunny day with a gentle blow of the wind. We had the chance to look inside the castle but photographing wasn’t allowed. It was like a museum that showcased the old clothings, antique furnitures and dusty and smelly rooms preserved for years. Somehow it brought us back to how it was in the 16th century.

From Karlskrona we took the cruising ship to Gdynia, Poland. But darn, I couldn’t get a pic of the whole ship. It was behind everything around from the parking lot when it arrived yesterday evening and when we’re waiting for our time to board. Stena-Baltica cruises everyday from Karlskrona, Sweden to Gdynia, Poland carrying cruisers and transport means. We booked one of the rooms at the Captain’s Suites on the ninth deck. Internet is quite slow here in the middle of the sea so I’ll just update this post later.

Stena-Baltica at Karlskrona-Gdynia harbour

We left Karlskrona at 9:00pm but it wasn’t dark yet cos days are normally longer on summer. I was surprised to discover that our room looks like that of a hotel’s. The champagne, varieties of cheese and strawberries were already prepared for us. Then we went up to the top deck to take pictures and watched the shil left slowly the port. We arrived at Gdynia harbour at 7:30am the next day. We didn’t go on land because the ship would leave after one a half hour back to Karlskrona. We just stayed on the top deck to see a little of Poland. We’ve planned to drive around this country but not this time cos we have other things to do after this short vacation. Also, it’s quite a long drive from Gdynia to Warsaw, the capital of Poland so it was enough to see the beautiful view from the ship. We cruised back to Karlskrona on fair weather. We did nothing but sleep and eat during the 10-hour trip.

I had a long but not exhausting drive today. Hubby insisted I should, so I drove from home and all the way to Karlskrona, in the southeastern part of Sweden. We headed off at 9:30am and arrived at around 4:00pm, with three stops along the way. I felt more comfortable now driving on a 110 km/h road that sometimes I could go over without noticing it. Hubby was just sitting most of the time, though he would react when I did wrong, sometimes giving me instructions as to where we should be heading. This little vacation we have is somewhat planned for my practice driving too. Anyway, we haven’t been to this part of Sweden, which according to hubby was merely a military base before. He did his military service in this small town when he was in school. He had not visited here after that, until today. And he was surprised to see how the town has improved since then.

Karlskrona, Sweden

There’s not much to see here but a place by the sea is somewhat exotic. We booked a room at Scandic Hotel near the harbour for yachts and small ferries. It was nice to feel the chilly breeze of the sea met with the warmth of the sun and gust of wind. It’s perfect for an exquisite dinner. I better get going. Tomorrow awaits another day of seeing around the town.

This is part 1 of our second trip to some countries in Europe. I can’t include all the countries we drove through in one digiscrap and I don’t want to do it this time as what I did in the first trip. The images were not in good quality anymore due to resizing them to much smaller ones. I’m still trying to develop my interest in digiscrapping so I am not expecting excellent impressions from you.
